Why is time the cross?
Because time is a collapse.

Not a moral sacrifice, and not a religious symbol, but a structural one. The cross is the operator of intersection: above and below, before and after, inner and outer, potential and actual. When these axes meet and fold into a single point, what remains is time.

Time is not simply a straight line moving forward. It is the result of many possibilities collapsing into one unfolding path. The universe, in a sense, gives up its branching multiplicity in order to become a single timeline. That collapse is the sacrifice at the heart of time.
