In Tarot the 'Hanged Man' often associated with something bad. This is wrong. In Gipsy card, the Hanged man is called 'Young Man' and originates from Suspended mind. The card name is "Man" Sanskrit hu-man, the awakened, suspended mind, hence hanged man...
Why all these different names?
Actually both Rider and Gypsy Cards portraying the same thing with the House card. The question is, what do they mean exactly...
Why did Rider name the House Magician?
The word Magician derived from the Sanskrit words maga, magh- magos, translating to Priest of the Sun, temporary place of residence, temple, house, vessel, (Sanskrit Noah i.e. to become a vessel), You. As you see, both Gypsy card and Rider hinting the same meaning. With Gypsy Card the House, the Temple is within you, it is you. Whilst Rider goes further and also showing the elements, the building blocks of life; fire, water, earth and air. The position of the Rider figure is showing 'As above, so is bellow', meaning we are made of star stuff, we are part of the universe or it is the universe who is able to experience physical reality through you. You are the temple of the Cosmos.
